DAYTON -- Julia Beretta, 93, of Booker Rest Home Annex, 1012 S. Third St., died there Dec. 10, 2009.
At her request, there will be no service. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Beretta was born March 3, 1916, in Jersey City, N.J., to James and Mary Dickenson Foley. She attended Jersey City area schools, graduating from St. Bridget's High School in 1934.
She married August "Barney" Beretta in Jersey City in 1943. Following Mr. Beretta's discharge from the U.S. Army in 1945, the couple moved to Teaneck, N.J. Mr. Beretta died in 1979.
Mrs. Beretta was a secretary for Union News in New York City. She also was employed for 26 years by Arnold Constable Department Store in Hackensack, N.J., working in fur storage.
She moved to Dayton in 2003 to be with her niece, Miriam Davis.
She enjoyed music, dancing, attending Broadway plays, walks along the Hackensack River Road, time at the ocean, and working crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed walks with her husband to Bishoff's for ice cream.
Mrs. Beretta is survived by four nephews; four nieces; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Grace Wilkinson, Ruth Grappo and Anna Kwitchoff.
