Eatery dishes up new choices


CrossRoads Steakhouse & Catering is dishing up new fare, said owner Kim Kelly-Frank.

The Rees Avenue restaurant at Veterans Memorial Golf Course, has introduced new choices and a pay-at-the-table credit/debit card system.

New items include latbread sandwiches for lunch and appetizer and dinner choices, including grilled flatbread, steamer clams, shrimp scampi, crab cakes, pan-fried oysters, New York and T-bone steaks and some lower prices for dinner. The new pay system comes with a slogan: "Dine Fraud Free," and uses a handheld, wireless credit-card and debit device. For reservations, call 522-1200.


New managers at Park Plaza retirement community are a blast from the past.

Walla Walla native Gerry Rose and her husband, Grady, who managed the operation at 1400 Dalles Military Road eight years ago, are back at the helm.

The Roses live at the facility, which offers independent living for seniors on a monthly rental basis.

The Roses have managed four other Holiday Retirement communities in Washington, Oregon and California, maintaining "Five Star" status at The Bedford in Vancouver, Wash., for three years. They invite guests to dinner at Park Plaza. Call 509-525-6513 for reservations.


A Walla Walla native has joined the team at Lloyds Real Estate.

Don Hanson brings property management and business experience, with 21 years in the wholesale plumbing business and managing Ferguson Plumbing. Over the last two years he has worked in property management, which ultimately led him to real estate.

Diana Martinez has joined Blue Mountain Land Trust as the nonprofit land preservation organization's administrative assistant.

A 2009 graduate of Walla Walla University with a degree in graphic design, Martinez will develop communication materials, maintaindata bases and general office assistance.

Martinez was born in Waterville and grew up in the Wenatchee Valley.
