KENNEWICK -- John J. Robanske, 86, died Oct. 12, 2009, at Guardian Angels Assisted Living, Richland.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Mueller's Tri-Cities Funeral Home, 1401 S. Union, Kennewick. Burial will be private. The online guestbook may be found at www.muellersfuneralhomes.com.
Mr. Robanske was born in Walla Walla on Nov. 3, 1922, to Matthew and Christina Robanske. He graduated from high school in Walla Walla.
John married Evelyn Yeager on Oct. 30, 1949. They lived in Kennewick for 59 years.
He served in the Navy during World War II and was a sheet metal worker for 40 years and a foreman for J.A. Jones Construction Co. at the Hanford site in Richland.
He was a Clover Island Yacht Club member for 50 years and served as assistant commodore. He was a 50-year Elks Club member.
He enjoyed fishing, elk hunting, boating, oil painting and family vacations to Wallowa Lake. He was a great husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Mr. Robanske is survived by his wife at the home; two daughters, Cheryl Gregory and Debra Malek; a brother; and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, James Robanske, on July 14, 2009. He was the eighth of nine children.
