Milton-Freewater to host Oktoberfest

MILTON-FREEWATER — Oktoberfest, a jointly sponsored event by the Milton-Freewater Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Milton-Freewater, will be from 5-10 p.m. Saturday at the Milton-Freewater Community Building, 505 Ward St.

The German-style dinner will be 5-7 p.m., with live music and dancing from 6:30-10 p.m. Families are encouraged. Local band Vintage will provide music.

This year, Oktoberfest includes a new feature — a "Chair-ity" auction to benefit the local Rotary college scholarship program. Local artists have re-painted and decorated chairs with a distinctive, customized look. The chairs will be displayed and auctioned off throughout the Oktoberfest.

The dinner features German sausage, bratwurst, hot dogs, sauerkraut, German and regular potato salad and dessert, coffee and punch. Cost is $9 adults, $7 seniors and $5 children under 12.

Beer, wine and hard cider will be for sale. Tickets can be purchased at the chamber office at 157 S. Columbia St., Milton-Freewater. For more information, call 938-5563.
