MILTON-FREEWATER -- Evelyn "Evie" M. Renninger, 88, of Milton-Freewater died Oct. 21, 2009, at Scenic View Adult Family Home in College Place.

Visitation will be 9 a.m.-noon, 1-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home, 902 S. Main St.,Milton-Freewater, OR 97862. The graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Milton-Freewater Cemetery. The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Valley Christian Center, 818 N. Main St., in Milton-Freewater. The Revs. Jim Gerhold and Duane Geyer will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons & International in care of the funeral home.

Mrs. Renninger was born July 7, 1921, in Valeria, Iowa, to RollandC. and Ruth J. Christophel Koerner. She attended school in Jackson, Minn. She graduated fromNorth Central (Minn.) Bible Institute in 1945. Following graduation she worked for a family in Long Island, N.Y. In 1947, she moved with her family from Minnesota to Corona, Calif., and worked as a telephone operator.

On Sept. 2, 1949, she married Eugene F. Renninger.The couple entered the ministry in 1957, serving with the Assembly of God and Pentecostal Church of God in California, New Mexico and Montana.They pastored churches in Spokane and Hood River and Medford, Ore. They moved to Milton-Freewater in 2004 after living 30 years in Salem. Mr. Renninger died in 2007.

She enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends, spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, reading and bird watching.

She is survived by three daughters, Eunice Lemings of Clinton, Ark., Joy Rich of Milton-Freewater and Kathy Gerhold of Springfield, Mo.; a son, Paul Renninger of Scio, Ore.; a brother, Robert Koerner of Corona, Calif.; two sisters, Marilyn Morrow of Tillamook, Ore., and Aileen Howell of Stagecoach, Nev.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven siblings.
