Guard invites veterans to join Saturday's Fair & Frontier Days Parade

WALLA WALLA -- Veterans from all branches of the armed forces and their family members are invited to join the parade Saturday.

Members of all services are welcome to ride or walk with returned members of the 181st Brigade Support Battalion who will take part in the annual Fair & Frontier Days Parade through downtown Walla Walla.

"I would really like to invite all military members and their families to join us," said Roxanne Hinkle, family response officer with the Washington National Guard. The local guard will have a decorated flatbed truck and Humvee in the parade carrying veterans who were deployed to Iraq last year.

People who want to join the parade should try to arrive at 9 a.m. where the National Guard parade vehicles will be parked on Alder Street between Seventh and Eighth Avenues, Hinkle said. They can also come to the Walla Walla Armory, 113 S. Colville St., Hinkle said. Information is available at 629-2144.

The fair parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.
