Milton-Freewater resident Mary Ellen Munnick died March 30, 2010, at Park Manor Rehabilitation Center in Walla Walla. She was 95.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 pm Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Mountain View-Colonial DeWitt, with Chaplain Ben E. Vegors officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, or Blue Mountain Humane Society through the funeral home at 1551 Dalles Military Rd, Walla Walla, WA 99362.
Mary was born in Walla Walla on November 29, 1914, the fifth of seven children born to parents Benjamin and Edith Allen Stanton. After attending Berney School, she learned how to take shorthand in Portland, then worked a few years for Dr. Hunt in his Walla Walla office. She married Adrian Robert ‘Bob' Munnick in Walla Walla on July 11, 1953. The couple raised two children, living in Portland and Lewiston before returning to Walla Walla in 1970.
A member of the City Church of Seventh-day Adventists, Mary enjoyed gardening flowers, reading, music, and playing her organ.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Munnick, at the home; daughter Adrienne Gardner, son Larry Munnick, and sister Reita Campbell, all also of Milton-Freewater; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and nine nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her sister Fairy Stanton, and by brothers Harley, Eldred, Erle, and W. Dale Stanton.
