Pirate boys take top five spots on home course


POMEROY - Pomeroy's varsity five boys swept the top five spots at Crystal Springs Golf Course here Saturday in a Southeast B individual golf tournament. Trevor Koberstein captured medalist honors for Pomeroy, shooting even par-62 on the short Pomeroy course. Joel Meyers' 74 secured second place, while Ryan Koberstein's 84 was good for third. Austin Starin and Tanner Feider tied for fourth place, three strokes behind Ryan Koberstein at 87.

Tate Schauble was St. John-Endicott's low individual with a sixth-place 91.

Dayton's Dain Henderson shot 94 for seventh. Dayton's two other golfers, Andrew Groom and Garett Turner, shot 104 and 113 respectively, good for ninth and tenth places.

Neither Dayton nor St. John-Endicott brought full teams to the tournament.

St. John-Endicott's three girls were the only competitors. Michael Schuster medaled with a 90 on the par 64 women's tees. Sister Erin Schuster finished 13 strokes back at 103.

Pomeroy is off this week. The Pirates next tournament is April 27 at Veterans Memorial against DeSales, Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia and St. John-Endicott.
