Jesse Donald Nettles, age 75 years, of 733 S. 3rd St., Dayton, died Aug. 12, 2010, at the Dayton General Hospital. There will be no public services. Those who wish may contribute to the Little League Baseball program through the Hubbard-Rogg Funeral Home, 111 S 2nd St., Dayton,WA 99328.
Don was born Feb. 11, 1935, in Arlberg, Ark. His parents were Jesse and Gladys Dobbs Nettles. He came to Waitsburg with his family in 1947, and attended school. He joined the Air Force and specialized in radar operations, and also attended Indiana State College. Upon discharge from the service he worked as an electrician for Northwest Mobile Homes in Spokane. He married Betty Blevins on Dec. 27, 1960, in a ceremony in Waitsburg. They made their home in Dayton, where he worked for Bales Electric. In 1965, he started Nettles Electric, retiring in 2002. He coached Little League for 17 years and men's softball for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Betty at the home; three sons, Jess Nettles of Spokane, Jeffrey Nettles of Seattle, and Jerry Nettles of Walla Walla; one daughter, Kari Nettles of New Canaan, Conn; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; three sisters, Delores Nettles, Wanda Gales and Margaret Picton all of Waitsburg. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Wayne, James and Charles Nettles; one sister, Loretta Nettles.
