Pomeroy's Knebel runs wrestling win streak to 17 matches


POMEROY — Tory Knebel ran his win streak to 17-0 in Pomeroy’s non-conference wrestling matchup with Idaho’s Class 5A Lewiston here on Tuesday.

Knebel pinned Lewiston’s Trenton Hunter in the third round of a 160-pound match.

No team scores were kept for the match.

The Pirates other winners included, at 160 pounds, Justin Aldrich decisioned Devin

Schoff 11-10; at 171, Mike Wymore pinned Brandon Pearson in the second round; at 189, Klyntin Bott (now 17-1) rolled over Ryan Rigney 17-3; and also at 189, Tyler Reisdorph decisioned Rigney, 22-11.

At 215 pounds, Mat Slaybaugh pinned Kyle Craig in the second round; and at 215, Ethan McGee pinned Willie Broyles in the second round.

"Tory Knebel had a good match," Pomeroy coach Derek Shawley said. "And Klyntin Bott had wrestled Rigney earlier in the year and won in a close match. He had a better match this time.

"This was a good opportunity to have some good matches with different kids," he said. "Lewiston has a strong program."

The Pirates hit the mats again at the Royal Rumble in Royal City on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m.
