Walla Walla man linked to rash of vehicle prowls

WALLA WALLA -- A Walla Walla man has been arrested in connection with at least two vehicle prowls, and is a suspect in several more, authorities said.

Joshua D. Martindale, 18, of 579 S. Gose St., was booked into the Walla Walla County Jail on Tuesday morning on suspicion of second-degree vehicle prowl, violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances Act for paraphernalia, possessing drugs with no prescription and various misdemeanor charges, including resisting arrest and obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Martindale was reportedly caught near the 2500 block of Wainwright Place, where an off-duty Walla Walla County sheriff's deputy saw Martindale going through vehicles across the street from the deputy's home, according to a Sheriff's Office report.

The deputy approached Martindale, who ran away. The deputy, with the help of a neighbor, got Martindale to the ground and made the arrest, according to the report.

Martindale may be linked to several more vehicles prowls, including prowls reported in the 2200 block of Roberts Place, at least five vehicle prowls in the 1800 block of Reser Road, as well as along School Avenue, officials say. Martindale is also alleged to have had a glass pipe with burnt residue in a jacket removed during his arrest, according to the report.

Authorities believe there may be more vehicle prowls linked to Martindale, as well as a burglary reported on Pike Place.
