Elizabeth "Betty" J. Moyer passed away July 16, 2010, in Modesto,
Calif. She was born Oct. 30, 1923, in Genesee, Idaho. Her parents, Frank and Mary Allen, and sister Marian, soon moved to Dayton, where
she attended school and her father operated the local bakery for many years before working in the Dumas Orchards prior to retiring. Betty graduated from Dayton High School in 1941 and married Bill Moyer on
Dec. 10, 1942. They lived in Spokane and Walla Walla, before returning in 1950 to Dayton, where Bill operated the family farm and was postmaster from 1967 until his retirement in 1982. They then divided
their time between Dayton and Modesto to be near family, eventually spending most of their time in Modesto. Bill and Betty were married for 57 years.

While in Dayton, she was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was involved in many local activities, but family, politics and sports were her passions. She was a source of support and encouragement to her children and grandchildren in their many
endeavors. She was a leader in the local Democratic Party during the 1960s and into the 1980s. She became involved in many campaigns including co-chair of the Henry Jackson campaign for the U.S. Senate,
was a delegate to the 1972 Democratic National Convention and had lunch at the White House with President Jimmy Carter. She was also an avid fan of the Washington State University Cougars, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco '49ers football team and the San Francisco Giants baseball team.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister. She is survived by a son, Jerry and wife Erica; granddaughter, Gina; great-granddaughter, Fenix of Modesto; son, Jim and wife Mary of Cary,
NC; and grandsons, Andrew of Auburn, Ala. and Joseph of Raleigh, NC; niece, Kathleen Hynes and husband Bob of Bellevue, Wash, and their daughters, Sarah and Jane and their families.

There will be a visitation from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, July 25, 2010, at the Hubbard-Rogg Funeral Home and a graveside service will be held July 26, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Dayton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Alexander Cohen Hospice House, 2001 Euclid Ave. Hughson, CA 95326 or the Dayton High School Alumni Association.
