CLARKSTON - Waitsburg-Prescott came out on top of a nine-school Southeast 2B track meet here Wednesday.
The boys won with a team score of 117 and the girls won with 109.
For the boys, Asotin placed second, Walla Walla Valley Academy third, Pomeroy fourth, Tekoa-Oakesdale-Rosalia fifth, DeSales sixth, St. John-Endicott/Lacrosse-Washtucna seventh, Garfield-Palouse/Colton eighth and Dayton ninth.
For the girls, Asotin was second, DeSales third, Gar-Pal fourth, SJ-E/LW fifth, T-O-R sixth, WWVA seventh, Pomeroy eighth and Dayton ninth.
Area schools dominated in the sprints.
WWVA's Chinonso Opara took first in the 100 meter (11.39), 200 meter (23.47) and 400 meter (51.87). He placed second in the long jump, in his first time competing in the field event.
Pomeroy's Tyler Reisdorph placed second in the 100, and Justin Bingman took second for the Pirates in the 200 and the 400.
DeSales' Pat Sharkey placed second in the 800, at 2:14.07. WWVA's Alex Aamodt placed third with 2:14.36. In the 1600, Seth Deal won for Waitsburg-Prescott in 4:55.87. Aamodt placed third in 5:03.60 and DeSales' Joe Zimmerman was fourth in 5:07.71.
Deal won the 3200 in 11.04.84, and Nathanial Steen placed fourth for Dayton in 12:12.46.
In the 110 hurdles, Wyatt Withers won for W-P, in 17.42. Nick Wales was second for DeSales in 17.89. Brian Wittlake was sixth for WWVA in 20.33.
Pomeroy won the 4x100 relay in 45.73, running Reisdorph, Bingman and Tory Knebel. The same team won second in the 4x400 relay. W-P placed third in 3:56.82, running Alejandro Battalla, Otis Montgomery, Logan Wanous and Justin Armstrong.
Tyler Wahl won shot put for DeSales, in 39 feet, 6.74 inches. WWVA's Nick Meharry was third, with 37-06.50, and DeSales' Jacob Heikkenen was fourth with 37-02.75.
In discus, W-P's James Lehr threw 152-05 for first and Eshom Estes threw 124-04 for second. DeSales' Anthony Brown (113-03) and Trevor Dobbins (105-03) placed fourth and fifth.
Estes placed second in the javelin for W-P, throwing 139-05.
Justin Ruark won high jump for Pomeroy, at 5-08.00. WWVA's Michael Hanson placed fifth with 5-04.00.
Local athletes dominated in pole vault and long jump. In the pole vault, W-P's T.J. Hofer (11-06.00), Otis Montgomery (11-00.00) and Kyle Darby (7-00.00) placed first, second and fourth, respectively. Pomeroy's Kenny Carr placed third with 9-00.00.
In the long jump, Wyatt Withers (19-09.50) and Zac Alexenko (18-05.50) won first and third for Waitsburg. Opara (18-06.00) and Matt Moore (18-04.50) placed second and fourth for WWVA.
Withers placed second in the triple jump, at 40-01.00, and Ruark was third, at 38-11.00.
In girls results, Courtney Fuller was third in the 100 for Dayton, in 14.62. Amanda Arceo was fourth for DeSales, in 15.00, and Kelsey Collins was fifth for Pomeroy, in 15.09. In the 200, WWVA's Casey Roosma was second with 29.22 and W-P's Kyla Harris was fourth with 30.22. Jessica Arnzen finished fifth for DeSales in 20.75.
In the 400, Arceo finished second for DeSales, in 1:13.74.
In the 800, W-P's Kristin potter (2:39.45) and Maya Garcia (2:39.78) finished first and second. Arnzen finished third for DeSales in 2:40.91. Isabela Benito finished second in the 3200 for W-P, in 13:53.52.
In the 100 hurdles, Ronnie Hulce finished first for W-P in 18.15 and Courney Fuller finished second for Dayton in 18.23. DeSales' Brigit Lyons finished fourth in 19.78 and WWVA's Jocelynn Rupp-Anliker finished fifth in 21.13.
In the 4x100 relay, W-P's team of Kyla Harris, Crystal Harris, Maya Garcia and Kristin Potter finished second in 55.85. DeSales' Amanda Arceo, Megan Moberg, Cheyenne Schoen and Jade Donnelly finished third in 58.21; Pomeroy's Brielle Hocking, Amanda Bingman, Kayla Morgan and Kelsey Collins finished fourth in 59.56, and WWVA's Nicole Kim, Kindra Moore, Moriah Trunkey and Kamia Salango finished fifth in 1:04.06.
In the 4x200, DeSales' Arceo, Brigit Lyons, Megan Moberg and Jessica Arnzen finished second in 2:00.20; Pomeroy's Morgan, Collins, Hocking and Bingman finished third in 2:06.91 and WWVA's Moore, Rochea Paulson, Kamia Salango and Kim were fourth in 2:23.25.
In the 4x400, W-P's Hulce, Garcia, Harris and Potter won in 4:28.00. WWVA's Kamia Salango, Jocelynn Rupp-Anliker, Moriah Trunkey and Roosma finished third in 4:53.30.
Kindra Moore (29-01.25) and Rupp-Anliker finished fourth and fifth in the shot put, and W-P's Genesis Pearson finished sixth in 26-10.00.
Pearson finished second in discus, in 93-02.
In javelin, Roxana Acock finished third for DeSales, at 94-03. Pomeroy's Maddie Grimm was fourth in 87-09.
Ronnie Hulce won the high jump for W-P in 4-10.00. Rupp-Anliker placed third at 4-00.00.
In pole vault, Megan Moberg won for DeSales with 8-09.00. Pomeroy's Brielle Hocking was second with 8-06.00. W-P's Taylor Doepker and Maddy Witt finished fourth and fifth, with 6-00.00 each.
In the long jump, Dayton's Courtney Fuller finished third in 14-02.50. DeSales' Jessica Arnzen finished fifth in 13-00.75.
In the triple jump, W-P's Maddy Witt (27-03.75), Taylor Doepker (26-04.00) and Crystal Harris (25-04.5) finished third, fourth and sixth. DeSales' Jade Donnelly finished fifth in 25-06.5.
WWVA, DeSales, Dayotn and Waitsburg-Prescott compete with the rest of the Southeast 2B league in the Blue Mountain/Whitman County League Championships May 12 at Martin Field in Walla Walla. Events start at 1 p.m.
