WALLA WALLA - Wa-Hi's boys finished off Davis and league play in a postponed Cascade League tennis match here Tuesday.
The Blue Devils won 6-1.
"We really pounded those Pirates (Tuesday)," said Wa-Hi coach Ted Cummings.
Davis defeated Moses Lake a few weeks ago - and Moses Lake defeated Wa-Hi. But that victory didn't hold Tuesday.
"(Davis and Wa-Hi) tied with a 7-7 season record, which is pretty satisfying in a tough tennis league," Cummings said.
No. 3 singles player Jack Crouter defeated Alan Bucknam 6-1 and 6-0, improving to 11-6 overall among the boys, the best individual win-loss record on the team.
No. 2 and No. 4 singles players Blake Rowley and Kevin Leier also won.
"They all finished stronger than they started with two set victories," Cummings said.
The Davis win of the day came off Martin Roger-Reyes, who won in three sets to No. 1 Cameron Davis.
The Blue Devils swept in doubles action.
"The doubles play was so one-sided for the Blue Devils that the outcome was never in question," Cummings said.
No. 1 team James Rupper-Bridges and Madison Filan, No. 2 team Ruben Kuznetsov and Brandon McKinney and No. 3 team John Meliah and Danny Wilson won their six rounds by a combined 24-7.
It all added up to a proud coach.
"This is the greatest victory in coaching," Cummings said. "When you can see, first hand, the incredible improvement your players make throughout the course of the season."
Wa-Hi plays Saturday in Wenatchee in the 12-team, 36-entrant district tournament.
Wa-Hi's Cameron Davis is seeded No. 4 in the match.
