Roger Rojo
July 26, 1955 - Aug. 23, 2010

Roger Joseph Martinez Rojo, a lifelong Walla Walla resident, died Aug. 23, 2010, at Vibra Specialty Hospital in Portland at the age of 55.

Roger was born on July 26, 1955, in Walla Walla to Roger M. Rojo and Joanne M. Schell. Roger attended local schools in Walla Walla and graduated in 1974, from Walla Walla High School. He was active in ROTC military training in school and later served his country by joining the Army, in which he received an honorable discharge. He had a fondness for animals, enjoying the outdoors, camping, hiking, snowmobiling and four wheeling in the Blue Mountains, where he and his Ford Bronco enjoyed driving in the rough terrain with family and friends. He was always willing to give a helping hand to friends or people in need. Roger enjoyed spending a lot of his time at a family cabin in Oregon. He was an outdoorsman who always respected nature and the people he met along the way. Roger enjoyed family, friends, John Wayne movies and food, especially fried chicken.

Roger worked for several places, with a majority of his time spent in manufacturing, and no one could turn out more products than Roger.

Roger was diagnosed with diabetes in his 40s. This did not slow him down initially. He continued to work and enjoyed life. Roger was very close to his father and mother. He touched many people with his kindness and generous heart, and was always willing to give a helping hand. He had great enjoyment making apple pie, which many people enjoyed for over two decades. Roger's smile and generosity will always be remembered by family and friends. He was a big brother to many!

Roger is survived by his sisters, Sally Buchanan Rojo and brother in-law Jim Buchanan, and Maria Rojo of Walla Walla; brothers, Chuck Rojo of Spokane and David Rojo and sister in-law Charlene Rojo of West Inn, Ore.; and loving friend and ex-sister in-law, Debbie Rojo; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents
