Applicants sought for board that would govern joint agency

A merged planning and permitting agency for the city and county will need overseers.


Applicants are being sought to serve on the board of directors for a proposed new joint planning agency serving the city of Walla Walla and Walla Walla County.

Creation of the new agency is the subject of ongoing talks between the Walla Walla City Council and county commission. The Council may take action this week on a resolution for an agreement to create the agency, but county commissioners have said they intend to wait until all three of them can be present before considering action.

The proposal calls for one board member to be appointed by the Council, one by the county commission and the third jointly selected by the two boards. All three will be voluntary, unpaid positions.

Application forms are available either from the city clerk at Walla Walla City Hall, 15 N. Third Ave., or from the commissioners' office at the Public Health and Legislative Building, 314 W. Main St.
