Mac-Hi hands Umatilla 11-4 baseball loss on Tuesday


MILTON-FREEWATER - Mac-Hi extended its season record to 6-2 here Tuesday with an 11-4 non-league victory over Umatilla in prep baseball play.

The Pioneers will take an 0-2 Greater Oregon League record to Ontario on Saturday for an 11 a.m. doubleheader.

Troy Kessler had three singles and knocked in three runs to lead the Mac-Hi attack on Tuesday. Taylor Hodgen had two singles and a pair of RBIs while Jake Morris singled twice and drove in one run.

"We were singles hitters," Mac-Hi coach Mike Garcia said. "All of our hits were singles, and we also had five walks. We showed a lot of patience at the plate."

Kevin Cuellar started on the mound for Mac-Hi and worked the first four innings. Jake Morris and Pat Sheets pitched out of the bullpen.
