WALLA WALLA - Walla Walla Community College placed five players in double figures Saturday night and rolled to a comfortable 78-43 victory over Treasure Valley in an NWAACC Eastern Region women's basketball game in the Dietrich Dome.

The lopsided triumph - coupled with Big Bend's 65-62 upset of Yakima Valley - lifted the Warriors, now 6-3 in league and 15-5 overall, into sole possession of third place in the East. WWCC and YVC play Wednesday in Yakima.

TVCC slipped to 1-8 and 4-15 with the loss.

Walla Walla leaped out to a 12-2 lead in the early moments of the contest and held a 12-point advantage, 22-10, with 4:36 remaining in the opening half.

WWCC blew the game open with a 16-2 run to end the half and went into intermission with a 26-point bulge, 38-12.

"I was concerned about a letdown after that big win (over top-ranked Columbia Basin Wednesday night)," WWCC coach Bobbi Hazeltine said. "When we got up 12-2, that eased my mind."

Shiann Dreadfulwater and Alex Pfefferle, who ended the night with 14 and 10 points, respectively, led the first-half charge for the Warriors with eight points apiece.

Defensively, the Warriors forced 16 turnovers and converted them into 21 points in half one.

WWCC continued to further extricate itself from the Chukars in the second half and led by as much as 36, 78-42, before settling for the final margin of conquest.

Leslie Stillar came off the bench to lead Warrior scorers with 15 points and dished out six assists. Tai Jensen tallied 13 and nine rebounds, and Caitlin Duncan had 11 points.

"I thought we passed the ball really well," Hazeltine said. " I told the team, ‘Just go.' I loved the mentality. We're not traditionally a running team."

"Shiann had one of her better games," Hazeltine said. "Leslie played so well and makes so much happen.

"For Tai, this may have been her best game," Hazeltine said. "She did a good job defensively."
