CP man arrested in child rape

Anyone who may know of victims is being asked to contact the police.

WALLA WALLA -- Police arrested a 21-year-old College Place man for alleged rape of a child and possessing pictures of nude children.

Jesus Torres Almeida of 467 NE Carey Court was arrested Thursday on investigation on 20 counts of second-degree rape of a child and possessing six pictures of female minors on his cellphone.

According to Walla Walla Police Detective Mike Boettcher, Almeida was arrested Thursday around 1 a.m. on investigation of displaying a weapon and providing alcohol to minors.

During that initial investigation, a 12-year-old girl informed police that Almeida had nude pictures of minors on his cellphone.

After obtaining a search warrant, the photos were retrieved from the cellphone.

Further investigation and questioning led to Almeida's admission that he had established a relationship last summer with a girl who was then 13, according to court documents.

Both Almeida and the girl, now 14, admitted to having sex numerous times last summer; she broke off the relationship after learning Almeida's age, according to court documents submitted by police.

Police said Almeida also admitted to asking a number of girls to send pictures of themselves naked to him, but he told police he was joking.

Detectives believe the six nude photos are of three different girls who looked to be between 12-15, Boettcher said.

Almeida had his first court appearance today, where bail was set at $100,000.

Police are asking anybody who may know of possible victims of Almeida or who can help identify the three girls on Almeida's cellphone to call Walla Walla Police at 527-4434 and ask for detectives.
