PRESCOTT - Touchet came out on top of a nonleague match with Waitsburg-Prescott in softball action here Thursday.
The Indians won 15-1 in seven innings, with Nicole Brown pitching the complete-game, 12-strikeout win.
The Indians had 21 hits on the day. W-P's bats never got going in the one-run, four-hit loss.
Touchet led 5-1 heading into the top of the sixth, then broke it open in two five-run innings for the win.
"It was kind of the story of two halves," said Touchet coach Gary Dorman. "The first five were real close and pretty competitive, and then things blew up in the last two innings. We started hitting the ball and running bases real well."
It was W-P's final home game and all of the seniors saw play time, Dorman said. W-P also grabbed at least part of the Southeast 2B District title last week with a win over DeSales.
"It was a fun game, and I know that's not the true W-P team," Dorman said. "We play them again Monday and I know we'll see a different team then."
Dorman was pleased with his batters and Brown.
"We had three triples and a couple of doubles," he said. "And it was probably Nicole's (Brown) best-pitched game she's had so far this year. I like to think she's hitting her stride right now."
The Indians host W-P in the second part of the home-and-home series in their final home game Monday and are then off until the playoffs begin.
