A Milton-Freewater man was ejected from his car in a rollover crash Saturday morning.

Bryan Douglas Kennedy, 40, of 52595 Stateline Road in Milton-Freewater, was in serious condition at Harborview Medical Center's intensive care this morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Kennedy was driving east when he apparently drifted off the road and over-corrected while driving the 2001 Jeep Cherokee at high speed, officials said.

The vehicle rolled several times and landed in a wheat field, said Capt. Barry Blackman of the Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office.

Emergency responders were called at 9:27 a.m. to Stateline Road where it crosses with Valley Chapel and Trolley roads. Kennedy, who apparently was not wearing a seat belt, was found unconscious about 23 feet from the rig.

Both of the driver's feet were severed, attached only by skin. One foot was badly mutilated, Blackman said. Officers are investigating drug and alcohol involvement.

Kennedy was taken to Providence St. Mary Medical Center, then transferred to the Seattle hospital.
