Discussion set on wealth gap, related rhetoric

WALLA WALLA - Whitman College's First Generation and Working Class Students group will hold a faculty discussion Thursday on the growing gap between rich and poor in the nation, and the political rhetoric surrounding debates on deficit reduction and taxation.

The discussion will take place at 8 p.m. in Olin Hall Room 130. Olin Hall is off Isaacs Avenue; parking is available in the lot on the south side of Isaacs opposite the college's Physical Plant, which is on Penrose Street.

The event will feature presentations by history professor David F. Schmitz and politics professor Paul Apostolidis. The presentation is tentatively titled "Class Inequalities and Class Warfare."

The discussion and a question-and-answer session afterward are free and open to the public.
