MILTON-FREEWATER - The Milton-Freewater Public Library, in cooperation with Libraries of Eastern Oregon and the Oregon Cultural Trust, is celebrating Oregon Days of Culture on Tuesday with a program by poet Pamela Steele.
The program is called Querencia, a Spanish word meaning "heightened awareness." It comes from the point in a bullfight when the bull turns to face the matador, who is uncertain whether or not the bull will charge. In this case, participants will have the opportunity to alternate between being the torero and being the bull.
Steele will read excerpts from her works, but attendees are invited to read aloud from their works as well.
The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Albee Room of the library, next door to City Hall at 8 S.W. Eighth Ave. The public is invited and admission is free.
