WALLA WALLA - Drivers in the vicinity of Walla Walla High School can expect disruptions this week as work on a road reconstruction project progresses.
Work on the Reser Road project will close the intersection at Howard Street-Prospect Avenue and Cottonwood Road on Monday. Detours will be provided to route traffic around the area.
Project managers are working with school officials to ensure pedestrians will be able to get through the area, said Aaron Grimm, project engineer with Walla Walla County Public Works Department.
On Tuesday, the high school parking lot will be closed to allow workers to pave the north side of Reser Road from the Yellowhawk Creek bridge to Fern Avenue.
The south side of the road will be paved on Wednesday, Grimm said.
Starting Thursday access to the bridge over Yellowhawk Creek will be closed to concentrate on work from the bridge to Howard Street. People living east of Yellowhawk Creek should use Fern Avenue, which will be paved if weather permits.
Grimm said the goal remains to open the road by early December.
