WENATCHEE - Walla Walla Community College's volleyball team clinched an NWAACC playoff berth with a four-set victory over Wenatchee Valley Wednesday, 25-21, 21-25, 25-23, 25-17.

"The stats don't tell the whole story tonight," Warrior coach Tim Toon said. "We struggled with our ball control and didn't play with high volleyball IQ. It is nice to get a win on the road against a conference opponent, but we took a couple steps back on the competitive ladder."

Brittany Dominguez had 21 kills, two aces and three blocks for WWCC.

"We win matches when Brittany posts numbers like these," Toon said. "She is having a great year. This weekend, she is taking an official visit to NCAA Division II Cal State Monterey Bay and is looking at a nice money deal for next season."

Libby Kern turned in 16 kills and six blocks.

"She got a lot of sets tonight and blocked very well," Toon said.

Taylor Lancaster "continued a hot streak at the net" with 12 kills, 15 digs and two blocks.

Kayla Hanus put up 49 setting assists and 18 digs on a "very impressive statistical night," Toon said.

Laekynn Culpepper "was flying around the court picking up balls" for 20 digs, he said.

Last week's NWAACC Defensive Player of the Week Renee Baumann came up with 15 digs, and Christine Deitz had 14 digs and five blocks.

The victory give the Warriors a 9-2 NWAACC East Region record, 28-7 overall.

"Now that we've qualified for the NWAACC championship tournament, we'll jockey for seeding, which could be the No. 1, No. 2 or No. 3 slot, depending on our results the next couple of weeks," Toon said.

The Warriors host Walla Walla University Monday for a 6 p.m. Halloween match. Treasure Valley comes to town Wednesday.

"Monday's match will be fun with a Halloween theme," Toon said. "It's also nice to mix in a non-conference match during our intense season. It allows more players to see the court because the result does not affect our standings."
