Elsie L. Hannan was born Aug. 16, 1931, in Hammond, Ind., to Elof and Olive Anderson. She grew up on the family farm near Hollowayville, Ill. She married Charles Carruthers on Nov. 19, 1949, and raised five children in Seatonville, Ill. In 1969 Elsie and family moved to Fontana, Calif., where Charlie passed away in September 1984. Elsie married Tom Hannan Dec. 16, 1989, and moved to Prescott in 1999.
Elsie's life was centered on her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. After raising her own children, Elsie and Tom still had enough love to provide a home for many foster children, and she stayed active in the foster parent community for many years.
Elsie was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church and loved being involved in church activities. Elsie was involved in the Prescott community activities such as the Prescott Christmas Party and Easter Egg Hunt.
Elsie is survived by her brothers, Bob Anderson of Spring Valley, Ill., and Larry Anderson of Gilbert, Ariz.; children, Shiela Harlow (Tom), Sandra Meade, Chuck Carruthers (Danielle), Jeff Carruthers (Linda), Tim Carruthers (Sheri), Tommy Hannan; 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, Elsie was proceeded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Anderson; husbands, Charlie Carruthers and Tom Hannan.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at St Mark's Catholic Church, 405 W. 5th St. Waitsburg.
