PRESCOTT - Saturday's prep soccer match between Waitsburg-Prescott and visiting Trout Lake looked a lot like Friday's meeting between the same two clubs.

Francisco Gonzalez and Lino Diaz registered hat tricks for the second consecutive day as Waitsburg-Prescott blanked Trout Lake 8-0 to run its season record to 5-0-1. On Friday, W-P came out on top 9-0.

"The coaches are seeing a lot of improvement in our team play," W-P assistant coach Jay Potts said. "We are continuing to work on that, and we are getting great leadership from our senior captains, Francisco Gonzalez and Kevin Ortega."

Ortega contributed two assists in Friday's victory and three more on Saturday.

Oscar Gonzalez added two goals on Friday and Ernesto Valdovinos scored once. On Saturday, Luis Torres and Aldair Escalante contributed goals.

Francisco Gonzalez, Diaz and Escalante had one assist each on Friday and Valdovinos assisted on two goals Saturday while Dias and Oscar Gonzalez added one assist each.

Goalkeeper Pedro Mendoza earned shutouts both days but it didn't require much work as Trout Lake failed to put a shot on goal in either match.

"We played with a lot of poise and class," Potts said.

Waitsburg-Prescott entertains Walla Walla Valley Academy on Wednesday.
