Will nation have conversation about gun violence?

Having noted the scarcity of recent mass media coverage and comment from politicians recently about U.S. gun violence as a social problem, I was glad to see you printing the AP article by Marilyn Marchione on Aug.13 titled “Experts call for public health approach to gun violence.”

Will issues and insights presented in this and similar articles open up the national conversation we, as a nation, need about gun violence?

More specifically, will our lawmakers start to think about and act upon the problem of gun violence in more substantive ways — i.e., ways which more adequately respond to the seriousness of gun violence as portrayed in Marchione’s article — or, in other words, gun violence as a serious social problem in American society today?
