DAYTON — The Dayton Bulldogs doubled up on Riverview in a girls basketball game here Tuesday, 48-24.

McKayla Bickelhaupt led the Bulldogs with 13 points, seven rebounds, seven steals and two assists.

Bickelhaupt was the only Bulldog to score in double figures, but Dayton coach Clayton Strong was quick to credit his team’s effort especially on the defensive end.

“Our defensive effort was really good holding them to only eight points at half,” Strong said. “It was also significant in putting them away in the fourth quarter that we held them to only two points in final period.”

Malia Frame was the leading Bulldog rebounder with 10 while Lexie Ramirez added nine.

Dayton (3-0) played with full-court pressure and notched 17 team steals.

“Every single girl that played gave full effort,” Strong said. “Some of the girls were a little frustrated with their shooting, but I told them to keep playing defense and that the offensive scoring would come as we play more games.”

Dayton hosts Pomeroy Saturday at 5 p.m.
