As the temperatures drop for the season, Pacific Power is offering a way for local residents to help their neighbors stay warm.
Once again the energy company is offering its “Project HELP” program, which assists customers in need of help with their power bills. The program is administered locally by The Salvation Army.
There are two ways to donate: write a separate check to Project HELP and include it in the same envelope as the monthly power bill, or sign up for the fixed donation program which then incorporates payments into the monthly power bill. Those payments can start as low as $1 per month. The program can also be used by customers who pay online.
“While who needs assistance changes every year, the donations our customers have consistently made prove their generosity and compassion for their neighbors,” said Bill Clemens, Pacific Power’s regional community manager, in a prepared statement. “That is the kind of community we are proud to be part of.”
During the 2011-12 program year, Pacific Power customers, employees and retirees and shareholders donated more than $80,000. As a result, Project HELP helped more than 520 households served by Pacific Power in Washington.
Pacific Power fowards the tax-deductible donations to Project HELP administering agencies to help those in need. Customers who need bill assistance can call Pacific Power representatives and develop payment plans that work for them or direct them to agencies that may be able to help at 888-221-7070.
