WALLA WALLA — Drivers who have partied hearty can, once again, depend on Tipsy Taxi to keep themselves and other drivers safe, said Tim Bennett, spokesman for Walla Walla Police Department.
Beginning today, the taxi will operate from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. through Dec. 31 to get drivers home from their favorite “tavern, lounge or party,” Bennett said.
However, the taxi rides are back home only and not to other drinking spots, he added. “We don’t want to compound the problem.”
Sponsored by area businesses and agencies, volunteer drivers provided rides for hundreds of party-goers, getting them safely home after celebrating, Bennett said.
Rides are free, but any donations go to the Walla Walla Traffic Safety DUI Task Force for educational programs.
The taxis serve the Walla Walla and College Place areas. For more information call 522-8299.
