WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Sweets have signed a pair of players for the 2013 season.
Bret Helton, a pitcher from Colorado Springs, Colo., and Reggie Southall, a middle infielder from Gardena, Calif., will head to Walla Walla this summer to play West Coast League baseball.
Helton, a graduate of Cheyenne Mountain High School and a 6-foot 3-inch, 190-pound pitcher and infielder, is a freshman at the University of Utah. In 2011, as a junior at Cheyenne Mountain, Helton hit .429 with four doubles, one triple, and three home runs, helping his team to the 4A state title.
Southall is a 6-foot, 170-pound freshman middle infielder from the University of Southern California. A native of Gardena, Calif., he graduated from Junipero Serra High School in 2012. During his senior season with the Cavaliers he hit .475 with three doubles, three home runs and 20 RBI.
