WALLA WALLA – As the fourth season of West Coast League baseball approaches, the Walla Walla Sweets are again looking for individuals for their internship program.
For the third year in a row, the Walla Walla Sweets will offer aspiring sports professionals the opportunity to learn about the day-to-day operations of a professionally run sports organization.
The internships, which start in late May and run through the middle of August, expose participants to many facets of the behind-the-scenes operations of a professional baseball team. Sweets interns gain experience in marketing; ticket sales; sponsorship; stadium operations; community relations; and retail/merchandise sales.
The primary responsibility of Sweets interns on game-day is to be the driving force of the stadium operations team. Tasks include stadium set-up and breakdown, running on-field promotions, operating the guest services booth, working as an usher, ticket operations, and more.
When the team is on the road, interns have the opportunity to work closely with front office staff to learn the responsibilities and daily tasks of the various office departments such as graphic design, marketing, and sponsorships.
These internships are paid. Interns will receive a monthly stipend, and out-of-town interns have the option to be placed with a host family to help with the cost of living.
