WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Parks and Recreation has a number of programs coming up.
Parks and Rec and the Whitman College women’s tennis program is offering youth tennis lessons. Youth of all abilities will receive instruction from Whitman College women’s tennis coach John Hein and Whitman players. Children of all playing levels are welcome to join. The sessions will be divided by skill level from beginning to academy (high school and tournament players). Students will have the opportunity to become better players or learn for the first time.
Students will receive a program T-shirt. Lessons for all levels are Jan. 7-11 at Whitman’s Bratton Tennis Center
Late registration for the Parks and Rec’s Youth Indoor Soccer continues on an as-available basis.
Late registration grades kindergarten-eighth is $56, and $20 per third child and any additional children. Teams are comprised of both boys and girls. Players will be assigned to teams according to their grade and school they attend. Play will be 5-on-5 and begin with practices on Jan. 5. Practices will only be one day per week and games will take place on Saturdays. Practice times and days are determined by each coach, and will be at local school gymnasiums.
All participants will receive a program t-shirt. Players will be required to wear shin guards and non-marking soft sole tennis shoes. Teams will be coached by volunteer coaches. Those interested in coaching should contact the Parks and Recreation office at 527-4527.
“Ditch the workout and join the party!” at Parks and Rec’s Zumba for Kids at Carnegie.
ZUMBA brings Latin rhythms and easy-to-follow moves together to create a fitness experience with Caite York, a licensed Zumba instructor.
ZumbAtomic, ages 4-8, will be Jan. 9, 16, 23, 30 from 3-3:45 p.m. Cost is $25.
Nia adult fitness classes are designed to improve coordination, balance and spine health. The first class in Nia is free. The classes are instructed by Sarah Grant Sisk, Certified Nia White Belt instructor, and Marika Tomkins, Certified Nia Blue, Green, and White Belt instructor. Space is limited.
Nia for ages 12 years and up is offered at time of your choice Jan. 6-17.
Classes are on Wednesdays at 7:45-8:45 a.m.; Thursdays at 11-noon; Thursdays at 7-8 p.m.; Fridays at 9-10 a.m.; Sundays at 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Classes are held at Carnegie, 109 S. Palouse St. Seven classes for $64, 12 classes for $84, or 21 classes for $128.
