BOARDMAN, Ore. — Mac-Hi’s wrestling team claimed second place of eight teams at the Riverside Rumble tournament Saturday despite missing almost half the team thanks to injuries, sickness and vacation time.
Riverside won its tournament with 183 points to the Pioneers’ 152.5. Heppner came in third with 128.
“We were short-handed,” Mac-Hi coach Beau Chester said. “We brought 12 and 11 placed in the top four, so those wrestlers that we brought all came to wrestle. I’m happy for the kids.”
At 120 pounds Cole Sckramstad placed second and Jesus Diaz fourth. Alex Shaw grabbed third at 132 pounds with a 1-1 tournament record.
Jeffrey Jones (138) went undefeated with a 3-0 record finished in first place for his class. Blake Yensen finished fourth in the same class.
Tavis Hodgen (145) won his class after going 3-0.
