Classic tips off at DeSales today


WALLA WALLA — Four area schools are participating in the D.A. Davidson Christmas Classic basketball tournament beginning today at DeSales.

Weston-McEwen’s girls open play against the host Irish at 10:30 a.m., followed by the TigerScot boys against DeSales at noon.

Waitsburg-Prescott’s girls tangle with Touchet at 2 p.m., followed by the W-P boys against the Indians at 3:30 p.m.

The two non-local schools round out the opening day’s schedule, with Valley Christian making the trip from Spokane and University Prep coming from Seattle.

The Valley Christian girls take on University Prep at 5:30 p.m., and the schools’ boys teams tip off at 7 p.m.

Tournament play continues Friday with games beginning at 10:30 a.m., and concludes on Saturday with opening tip at 9 a.m. and the final boys championship at 5:30 p.m.

Concessions are available. Admission is $5 per day for adults, $3 for children and seniors, and $20 per day for families.

The Classic is sponsored by Animal Clinic East, BRD Farming of Athena, Coffee Cravings, O’Brien Motors and the Blue Mountain Officials Association.
