Pomeroy struggles in second half, falls to Tekoa-Oakesdale

OAKESDALE — Pomeroy’s girls basketball team dropped a Southeast 1B game to Tekoa-Oakesdale here Friday night on the road, 51-32.

The Pirates (1-7, 0-5 SE1B) trailed just 29-22 at halftime but only managed 10 points in the second half.

“We had a good first half and competed well,” Pomeroy coach Nettie Severs said. “We passed very well against their zone defense which (took) them out of it and (made them) go to man. We got stagnant in our offense in the second half and had trouble scoring. Overall we competed well.”

MacKenzie Monahan led all Pirate scorers with 12 points. Torrie Koller filled up the stat sheet with nine points on three field goals from downtown and a team-high six rebounds.

The Pirates committed 36 turnovers to only 15 from Tekoa-Oakesdale.
