PRESCOTT - Waitsburg-Prescott got the baseball season off to a shaky start here Saturday, but picked up a 5-4 win over visiting Pilot Rock in cross-border baseball.
Pilot Rock scored twice in the top of the first and blanked W-P in the home first to take a 2-0 lead.
W-P answered in the bottom of the second as Devin Acevedo rocked a two-out, two-run double to get W-P even at 2-2 after two.
W-P grabbed the lead for good with two runs in the third and went on to post a 5-4 non-league win.
"We scored all our runs on two-out rallies," W-P coach Dustin Snedigar said. "It was a first game, but it was encouraging to see the kids rally."
Dustin Dedios led Pilot Rock with two hits.
David Herzog collected two hits to lead the W-P offense to the win.
Zach Bartlow survived the two-run Rocket first and went on to pitch the win. Bartlow finished with a four hitter and struck out six.
"He (Bartlow) pitched a complete game," Snedigar said. "He settled in after awhile."
W-P hosts Weston-McEwen for a non-league double header at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
