LETTERS TO THE EDITOR - Veterans, public should attend ROTC ceremonies

Veterans of the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard and patriots, attention on deck.

On Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., the young men and women of Walla Walla High School's Junior ROTC program will muster on the parade ground for this year's annual military review and change of command.

Most of the seniors have dedicated four years to the Walla Walla High School ROTC program. They have spent countless hours in training for drill teams, sponsors, color guard and championship marksmanship teams.

Three cadets have been accepted to military academies. Several more are on their way to college ROTC programs and others will be leaving Wa-Hi to join our military on active duty.

ROTC is not a required program. All the cadets have elected to participate in the 100-year-old time-honored tradition of honor, respect, patriotism and going the extra mile.

The Walla Walla School District has invited the public to attend this ceremony. It will take place at the soccer field on Reser Road next to the gym parking lot.

Join us on the parade grounds to celebrate the dedication and accomplishments of our young men and women in uniform.
