Campaign an incredible experience

Running for a political office has been one of the most challenging and exhausting activities I’ve ever engaged in. But it has also been one of the most rewarding and learning experiences too.

Every parade, every festival and every door I knocked on became an opportunity for me to build a relationship and engage in conversation about what people in Walla Walla County care about — affordable housing, counseling services for youth and public safety to name just a few.

These issues and more are what drive people like me to reach out, speak up and raise public awareness. And when that happens, everyone wins because it stimulates discussion and an opportunity to see issues from a different perspective.

I have a great deal of respect for the political process and the candidates who put themselves in a position to make a difference. I am thankful I live in a country that gives us this freedom.

I appreciate those who supported my candidacy for county commissioner and I congratulate my opponent, Perry Dozier. His commitment to this county’s fiscal state is evident and I believe he will become a greater advocate for the county’s economic priorities.

I highly recommend running for public office. The more choices the voters have, the better the outcome for all.

Because it’s not about winning or losing, it’s about raising the issues in a public forum in a way that motivates others to unite for a common purpose and affect positive change. Participate in a campaign and be a voice for what matters to you.
