Aviary supporters plan meeting to discuss future


WALLA WALLA β€” A small group of Pioneer Park Aviary supporters is try to save the facility from extinction.

β€œIt is not all doom and gloom. There is a small group of us left. And we are getting ready to throw a Hail Mary pass. And that is what it is going to be. A Hail Mary,” City Council member Shane Laib reiterated at Wednesday nights Council meeting.

On Friday, a meeting for all those interested in saving the aviary will be held at the aviary at noon.

Tha aviary absolutely must stay put. It's very unique to this area and should be heavily promoted as another stopping point for tourists.

At the same time, it needs a face lift....BADLY! It's a very drab exhibit. More flowering plants need to be put in. The bushes inside some pens have become so overgrown, you can't see the birds. And they need a gift shop to help sustain operating costs, etc.
