WALLA WALLA — Area children are invited to learn about coral reefs and diving Wednesday as part of the monthly Whitman READS program, held at the Walla Walla PUblic Library.

The “Coral, Coral Reefs and Diving” event will be presented by associate professor of chemistry Allison Calhoun from 3-3:45 p.m. at the library, 238 E. Alder St. The event is free and open to the community.

Whitman READS is a children’s program geared for elementary school students and featuring Whitman faculty, staff and students sharing their knowledge and expertise in a kid-friendly presentation.

Whitman READS is held the first Wednesday of each month in the children’s area of the library. In November, students will learn about volcanoes and Mt. St. Helens from a professor of geology and environmental studies. The December program features a professor of psychology presenting on diversity.
