Pirates win consolation title at Pea and Lentile Tournament

GENESEE, Idaho — The final day of the Pea and Lentil Tournament was a succesful one for Pomeroy Pirates volleyball team, as they went 3-2 in their matches and won the consolation title.

Mackie Monahan made the all-tournament team with 45 kills on the day and hit .340. Ireland Mayfield contributed 78 assists Saturday and Monahan also had 26 digs.

Savannah Ruark smacked eight blocks in the five matches and was 49-for-50 serving. Toni Cloud was 18-for-19 serving.

“We had some kids playing different positions,” Bruce Crossfield said. “ (I) thought we did a good job of adjusting.”

The Pirates (8-10 overall) hit the court again Tuesday at home against Tekoa-Oakesdale.
