WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Sweets Roller Girls closed out the roller derby season with a 231-95 rout of Rolling Hills Derby Dames Saturday at the Walla Walla YMCA.

The victory leaves the Sweets with a 3-2 record on the year.

“That’s a huge accomplishment after last year’s season,” Sweets coach Barb Commare said. “We really focused this season on building the team’s endurance and getting everyone up to speed on strategy. It would seem the hard work paid off on Saturday night.

“It’s hard not to mention the entire team because everyone played so great,” she said. “Captain Kate (Moonshine) Moon and I are extremely pleased with the entire teams’ performance this season. We are looking forward to next season and to seeing the league grow and move forward.”
