Sales and lease retailer Aaron’s will quietly make its Walla Walla debut by the end of the week.
The store known as a place to buy furnishings, home electronics, appliances and more, either outright or on a payment plan, will open Friday in the Ninth Avenue space formerly home to O’Reilly Auto Parts before its move to Ninth and Poplar Street.
A grand opening extravaganza is slated for November, company officials said this week.
The opening fulfills a years-long expansion plan for the company, said John Pollock, Aaron’s vice president and chief operating officer.
He said the company had been planning an expansion to Walla Walla for three or four years. A previous location fell through before the current spot became available at 412 S. Ninth Ave.
Pollock said the business runs no credit checks, offers payment plans and matches or beats any prices.
As part of its opening celebration, Aaron’s employees will give away “Lucky Dog” plush toys with tags on the ears. Each tag has a number that will be used through three days of drawings for television sets and an array of other big prizes. Only 1,000 dogs will be given out. Some will be available between 4 and 5 p.m. Friday at the store.
