I want to commend Jim Dumont, Andy Coleman and the entire city of Walla Walla Parks and Recreation Department for organizing an amazing fall youth soccer program.
My 6-year-old son recently completed his second season playing in this league. His six teammates have banded like brothers and my wife and I have made terrific connections with numerous caring parents.
My mother visited from Kennewick to watch my son play. She wondered if there was a tournament at the Mill Creek Sportsplex because there were so many cars and people. I told her this was a regular occurrence for the city's youth soccer program.
This positive activity helps keep our kids away from the dangers of gangs, substance abuse and other threats. And where else can you watch cute 6-year-olds gazing off to the sky as a cool plane flies over while the ball goes whizzing past their feet.
The Parks and Recreation Department does a great job making excellent choices with our tax dollars and helping ensure Walla Walla is a great place to raise a family.
