Five Walla Walla wineries were named among the top in the world by Wine & Spirits Magazine.
In its winter edition, which hit stands last week, the publication released its annual Top 100 list of wineries from around the world “that delivered the best overall performances in (the magazine’s) tastings throughout the year,” the publication said.
Among them: Buty Winery, Gramercy Cellars, L’Ecole No 41, Pepper Bridge Winery and Reynvaan Family Vineyards. Also making the list was Mark Ryan Winery, which is based in Woodinville but also operates a tasting room in Walla Walla.
Honorees were recognized last week during an annual dinner and ceremony in San Francisco.
Of the 100 wineries on the list, 42 were American wineries. “Five of the top 100 wineries in the world is an excellent comment on the fruit of the Walla Walla Valley,” said Pepper Bridge owner Norm McKibben in an email to the U-B.
