WALLA WALLA — Five different Walla Walla Community College men’s soccer players scored at least one goal Saturday afternoon as the Warriors kept their undefeated and untied record intact, opening league play with a 6-0 trouncing of Olympic at Warrior Field.
WWCC improved to 6-0 on the young season.
Sergio Burgos kicked in the game’s first goal, off an assist by Ivan Chamorro, with 22:02 gone in the first half.
Jonathan Rodriguez doubled Walla Walla’s lead with a goal at 33:46, assisted by Jhony Mendoza.
Mendoza booted home a free kick from 25 yards out just 1:08 into the second half to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead.
Burgos negotiated down the right side of the pitch less than two minutes later and found Perry McNamar in scoring territory. McNamar accepted Burgos’ pass and put away a close-range shot at 47:54 to give WWCC a 4-0 lead.
Walla Walla’s Mario Guizar ended the scoring with a pair of netted kicks just 1:12 apart. His first goal was assisted by Kentaro Bodzewski at 71:19, and his second resulted from a Colten Sullivan assist at the 72:31 mark.
“It was a stagnate start, but we did what we were supposed to do,” WWCC coach Chad Bodnar said. “We were quicker in the second half. Our movement off the ball was better in the second half.”
The Warriors next contest is at Treasure Valley on Wednesday.
