COLLEGE PLACE — The Walla Walla Sweets Roller Girls host Skate the Vote on Sunday.
The nonpartisan event at the Village Church Youth Center, at the corner of Eighth and Bade streets, will run from 2-4 p.m.
All are invited to skate with their favorite derby girls and exercise their right to vote. Admission is free with a valid voter ID card or register to vote right at the door. Children under 18 are welcome to join their adult guardians for an afternoon of fun. No skates, no worries. There are skates for all sizes available at the venue, organizers say.
The event is a continuation of the league’s focus on promoting empowerment, athleticism and community involvement. The team is proud to announce that 99 percent of the women in the league are registered to vote and invites the public to join in.

The team also is preparing for its last home bout of the season on Oct. 6 at the YMCA. Tickets are on sale at Book & Game, the YMCA or through team members.
