Bishop pitches two-hit shutout as Touchet downs Tri-Cities Prep

TOUCHET — Makayla Bishop pitched a two-hit shutout and Touchet High School provided her more than enough run support Tuesday as the Indians downed Tri-Cities Prep 7-0 in a Southeast 1B-2B softball game.

“Makayla (Bishop) pitched fantastic,” Touchet coach Gary Dorman said. “She had one base on balls in seven innings, (she) was around the plate all day. We played some pretty good defense behind her too.”

Bishop picked up nine strikeouts in seven innings of play.

The Indians notched a run in the second but stranded eight baserunners through four innings before cracking the game open in the fifth.

Melissa and Courtney Creek each had two-out RBI hits in a three-run fifth inning and Touchet scored three more runs in the sixth on a Courtney Creek RBI single to bring in Harlie Schaeffer and two errors.

The Indians (8-1, 4-0) host Weston-McEwen Thursday at 4 p.m.
